How do I snap out of this way of thinking?

Every time I make a new female friend I always have my "perfect goggles" on at the start of the friendship, meaning I don't see any faults with the woman in question. This leads to me having strong feelings towards her an eventually ruining the friendship by trying to become more. When all is said and done I know I cannot be attracted to all the women I chose to befriend. My question is how do I stop taking on my "perfect goggles" and putting the woman on a pedestal
