What is a word that can be used for putting yourself on a pedestal?

Im trying to write a phrase.....but i need a word that can describe someone as putting themselves on a pedestal. If this makes any sense. It needs to come off negative. I guess it would be sorta the opposite of modest. Something that would describe a man who claims himself as god or a man who who claim himself as the only real just person in the world. Anything would help.
